Routine Treatments carried out by Mr. Payne
Thread veins (spider veins)
Thread veins are treated by microinjection. For thread veins on the legs this is the most effective treatment.
Varicose veins
These are comprehensively assessed both clinically and by colour duplex ultrasound. Treatment, including minimally invasive surgery and ultrasound guided foam Sclerotherapy, is tailored to each individual.
Venous leg ulcers
These are assessed by colour duplex scanning. Foam Sclerotherapy or surgery is carried out to help ulcers heal.
Intermittent claudication
Smoking cessation and exercise are the most effective treatments! Colour duplex scanning will also reveal whether balloon angioplasty or surgery can help improve mobility.
Arterial bypass
Bypass surgery is carried out to help improve walking distance or to save the leg in patients with peripheral arterial disease.
Aortic Aneurysm
Enlargement of the Aorta (Aortic aneurysm) can run in families. Assessment is simple and straightforward with ultrasound examination. Relatives of patients with an aneurysm should undergo ultrasound scanning to check that they do not require treatment.
Carotid surgery for stroke prevention
Patients who have suffered a minor stroke (TIA) or temporary visual disturbance (amaurosis fugax) should be assessed by colour duplex scanning to determine whether surgery to their carotid artery will reduce their risk of a major stroke.
Hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) treatment (including Botox)
Excessive sweating in the hands or face is best treated by surgery (thoracoscopic sympathectomy). Axillary (armpits) sweating can be abolished in the majority of patients by Botox injection.
Hernia repair (groin and umbilical)
Hernias are repaired using synthetic mesh. This is the strongest, most trusted method of hernia repair.
Minor Surgery
Sebaceous cysts, small fatty lumps (lipomas), in growing toenails etc are simply and swiftly dealt with under local anaesthetic.
